On September 6, 2017, the Tehran Regional Arbitration Centre (TRAC) and the Arbitration Center of Iran Chamber (ACIC) hosted a one-day joint training course on International Construction Contracts & Dispute Resolution.
The course was composed of an opening remark and six main subjects which covered all essential and hot issues in the field of construction dispute resolution. The instructors of the course were Mr. Richard Harding (Barrister, Keating Chambers) and Mr. Mark Blanksby (Partner, Clyde & Co).

The opening remark was delivered jointly by Dr. Oveis Rezvanian, Director of TRAC and Dr. Mohsen Mohebbi, Secretary-General of ACIC. The instructors of the course then, gave an introduction on construction industry and its complexity.
Afterwards, the instructors discussed the extensive use of standard forms of contract for construction projects, as well as the purposes and features of FIDIC forms of contract, as one of the most known standard forms of construction contracts.

In the second part of the course, the discussions focused on the most common disputes in construction industry, as well as the matter of claims and settlement of disputes through arbitration.This session also covered the causes and types of disputes in construction projects, as well as the way they are being prepared and pursued. Finally, the instructors analyzed the settlement of construction disputes through the arbitration and described its due process.
Being an intensive day, the instructor’s approach and the raised issues were warmly welcomed by lawyers, academics, graduated students and business users.
