The Permanent Court of Arbitration announced that, on 18 March 2015, the Arbitral Tribunal constituted under Annex VII of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in the Chagos Marine Protected Area Arbitration (Mauritius v. United Kingdom) rendered its Award.

The Award addresses the compatibility with the Convention of the establishment by the United Kingdom of a Marine Protected Area around the Chagos Archipelago on 1 April 2010. Two Members of the Arbitral Tribunal, Judge James Kateka and Judge Rüdiger Wolfrum, concurred in part and dissented in part with the decision reached by the majority of the Tribunal and attached a separate Dissenting and Concurring Opinion to the Award.
