The fifty-fifth annual session of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO) was held from 16th – 20th May 2016 in New Delhi, India. Held on the 60th anniversary of the founding of AALCO, this session saw extensive participation with 39 Member States and three observer delegations in attendance. The representatives of the Regional Arbitration Centres of AALCO were also present in this annual session.
Several issues of critical importance to the Member States were deliberated at this session. These included: Law of the Sea, the WTO, Violent Extremism and Terrorism, the issue of Palestine, International Law in Cyberspace, Selected Items on the Agenda of the International Law Commission and other Organizational issues including the financial matters of the Organization.

In this annual session, the representatives of the Tehran Regional Arbitration Centre, the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration, and Regional Arbitration Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, Lagos outlined the activities undertaken by their respective centre. In his presentation, Director of TRAC (Dr. Oveis Rezanian), summarized the activities undertaken by TRAC in the previous year as follow: organizing an international conference “International Arbitration Day” in commemoration of 10th Anniversary of TRAC, organizing the first Iranian Commercial Arbitration Moot Court (jointly with Arbitration Centre of Iran Chamber), introducing TRAC’s new multi-lingual website, participation in international and national Conferences and seminars, opening internships for graduate students, appointment of new Arbitrators, sponsoring first Iranian team in the Annual Willem C. Vis Arbitration Moot, and enlarging TRAC’s network.
